Love this: especially because I stood thanking God for the stunning beauty of His creation today, marveling at the red leaves and the autumn sunlight streaming through the trees in my neighborhood.
The year my Mama died, the changing colors, months later, were my reminder there is such beauty in the dying, as I recalled how present and beautiful God's Presence was in my Mum's last months, weeks and days earlier that year. Amen to savoring (something my children taught me too).
Well, I learnt something this morning! Must go and check if that volume is in my Childcraft set (a hand me down from a relative). Thank you Denise and God bless you.
Beautiful! That book looks wonderful. I always loved autumn leaves, which we don’t get much of here in Florida, and until I read this I didn’t realize I didn’t know why they change colors!
I just love your beautiful and thoughtful prose. I am wondering if you are ever in the Boston area my women’s’ prayer group called WINGs (women in Gods spirit) would absolutely love having you speak:)
The other day my adult daughter witnessed an older lady pointing out fall leaves that she wanted her attendant to pick up. My daughter told me she thought, “there goes my Mom.” I have always been so thrilled with all of the beautiful fall colors and combinations! Every fall there is quite a collection of leaves, acorns, chestnuts, and a variety of pinecones on the dining table.
Wow! Denise, you never cease to amaze me with your articles. They're so life-giving and shows God's love for us in the details. I did wonder about the different colors...now I know! I will show this to Albert. Maybe he already knows. He works for Home Depot in the garden and nursery. Humming birds go to him when they are hot and want a shower. Everyone's amazed.
