Thank you for helping me understand the Ascension better. I could never quite grasp the joy of it until reading this. But, like so many other times the mother child relationship has been my best teacher and I wouldn’t have had this lesson if not for your post. Tears were streaming down my face and I understood.
I am glad it resonated with you, Christie. I have only grown to love this solemnity a little bit more each year as it goes by. I am so grateful the liturgy is a circle - 0r perhaps a spiral - always returning to the feasts again and again that we may deepen our understanding of them as we grow and change in age and in faith. Each year I see something new. It's the truth of that LIVING word inspired anew within us each time by the Holy Spirit.
This is beyond beautiful and really resonated with me as the mother of a grown, married son. I thank God for your great gift to put into words what I so often feel but do not have the gift to express.
Thank you for describing, sharing and showing us the Ascension in such a beautiful way. In Northern California, they celebrate it on Sunday which isn’t quite the same so I participated online and so I get to celebrate again on Sunday. Meditating on the Ascension by reading many but yours was the best portrayal for me. Going deeper every year. How very generous and magnanimous is our Lord for allowing us to plumb the depths of his mysteries and providing writers like you to show us the way to the treasures of our faith. 👏👏👏🌷🌸💗
