Food for thought-When growing up amongst eight other siblings, one time my Godmother said to me…how come you never speak? How will people know you? I guess I liked to listen more than speak. For a while I thought something was wrong with me but then I realized people are all different so I was okay being who I am.
I'm always working on this bc I work amongst so much noise (much of it interior). At work my Screensaver is a picture of a table tent found in the guesthouse refectory at the Abbey of Gethsemane: "Silence Spoken Here." And I remind myself and others to try and keep silence as much as possible. So very difficult but sorely needed.
I love this! I sporadically try very hard to keep silence. Fall off the wagon, start again. Maybe you could write more on the dying to self aspect. This seems like a tough one. I am always trying to protect myself!
