Wow, so much of this resonated. I've become gradually more and more into classical music, and your observation about the joyful parts not lasting long is so well described! I realized that pop music gives you what you think you want over and over again; if it builds to the delivery, it's a 30 second build. Classical makes you wait and wait and then it delivers something so transcendent just once…and then it's gone. It's incredible what a payoff it is, but always heartbreaking how fast it ends. There's a moment in Beethoven's 3rd, towards the end of the second movement, I think? You'll probably know the part I'm talking about. It builds to a climax and the violins do this spiral downwards…I remember I literally gasped the first time I heard it and I thought it would repeat, but then it didn't. I was so upset at first, but now when I listen to the piece, I'm much more attuned to the entirety so that I can savor that moment.

Anyway. Love this!♡
